Talking With God
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for inviting us into a personal relationship with You through Jesus Christ. Thank You that we can come boldly before Your throne of grace and speak with You at any time. As we study Your Word today, teach us how to pray, strengthen our faith, and deepen our fellowship with You. Help us to become people of prayer who depend upon You daily and seek Your will in all things.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Primary Text
Matthew 6:9-13
“In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
Introduction
One of the greatest privileges of the Christian life is prayer.
Prayer is how believers communicate with God.
Just as healthy relationships require communication, a healthy relationship with God includes regular prayer.
Prayer is more than asking God for things.
Prayer is fellowship with our Heavenly Father.
Through prayer we worship, give thanks, confess our sins, seek God’s wisdom, present our needs, and pray for others.
Prayer is not a religious ritual.
It is a personal conversation with God.
