On August 16, 2026, we had the privilege of meeting readers, sharing our books, enjoying conversations about faith, and connecting with people in the community during our Book Signing Event in West Covina, California.

More than simply putting books into people’s hands, our desire is that every publication becomes a doorway to God’s Word—bringing biblical truth, hope, encouragement, assurance, forgiveness, and a deeper understanding of the salvation found in Jesus Christ. This reflects the heart of Crossing to Life Press: publishing Christ-centered resources that strengthen faith and point people to Christ. 

We are deeply grateful to everyone who stopped by, shared a conversation, purchased a book, offered encouragement, or simply took time to learn more about the ministry. Every encounter matters, because behind every book is a message—and behind every message is the prayer that someone will be drawn closer to Christ.

Integrity When No One Is Watching

Choosing to Honor God in the Secret Places

Key Scripture

“He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.”
— Proverbs 10:9 (NKJV)

Character is not merely what other people see. It is who we are when no one is watching, when there is no applause, and when we believe our choices will remain hidden.

It is possible to appear faithful publicly while compromising privately. We may say the right words, demonstrate kindness before others, and fulfill our responsibilities when people are watching. Yet our true character is revealed in the secret decisions of the heart.

God sees beyond appearances. He knows our motives, thoughts, private habits, and unseen choices. This truth is not meant to frighten us but to invite us into an honest and secure relationship with Him.

Joseph’s Test of Integrity

Joseph demonstrated integrity when Potiphar’s wife attempted to lead him into sin. He could have reasoned that no one would know. He was far from his family, living in a foreign land, and surrounded by people who did not worship his God.

Yet Joseph answered:

“How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
— Genesis 39:9 (NKJV)

Joseph understood that even if no person saw his actions, God would see them. His loyalty was not controlled by convenience, fear of exposure, or human approval. He chose faithfulness because he belonged to God.

Joseph’s integrity did not immediately make his life easier. His righteous choice led to false accusation and imprisonment. Nevertheless, God remained with him. In time, the character Joseph developed in private prepared him for the authority he would receive in public.

Integrity may cost us something temporarily, but compromise can cost us much more. A secret decision can damage our conscience, weaken our witness, and gradually lead us away from God. By contrast, every faithful decision strengthens our character and prepares us for greater responsibility.

Integrity Begins in the Heart

Integrity does not mean that we never struggle or make mistakes. It means that we refuse to live a divided life. We do not pretend to be one person publicly while intentionally becoming someone different privately.

A person of integrity is willing to confess wrongdoing, receive correction, and make things right. Instead of hiding sin, making excuses, or blaming others, we bring our failures into the light of God’s grace.

Integrity asks:

  • Am I truthful even when dishonesty would benefit me?
  • Do I keep my promises when keeping them becomes inconvenient?
  • Do I treat people with respect when they cannot repay me?
  • Do my private choices agree with the faith I profess publicly?
  • Am I willing to do what is right even when it costs me something?

These questions are not meant to produce condemnation. They help us invite God into the areas of our lives that still need transformation.

Grace Produces Genuine Character

Christian integrity is not created by human determination alone. It grows as the Holy Spirit transforms our hearts and teaches us to love what honors God.

When we fail, we do not have to run away from the Lord. We can come to Him honestly, confess our sin, receive His forgiveness, and begin walking faithfully again. God’s grace does not give us permission to remain dishonest. His grace gives us the power to leave dishonesty behind.

The goal is not simply to protect our reputation. Reputation concerns what people think we are; character reveals who we truly are. We can manage our reputation before people, but only God can transform our character from within.

Choose today to be the same person in private that you desire others to see in public. Let your words be truthful, your motives sincere, your commitments dependable, and your conduct honorable. Even when your faithfulness goes unnoticed by people, it is never unnoticed by God.

Personal Reflection

  1. Is there any area of my life where my private actions contradict my public profession of faith?
  2. Have I been hiding, excusing, or minimizing something that I need to confess?
  3. What faithful decision is God asking me to make today?
  4. Is my desire to honor God stronger than my desire to protect my reputation?
  5. Who can help me remain accountable as I grow in integrity?

Today’s Application

Identify one area in which you are tempted to compromise. Bring it honestly before God. If necessary, confess it to a trusted and spiritually mature believer. Then take one specific action today that reflects truthfulness, faithfulness, and obedience.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Search my heart and reveal anything within me that does not honor You. Forgive me for the times I have protected my reputation while neglecting my character. Deliver me from dishonesty, hidden compromise, and the fear of what others may think.

Create in me a sincere and undivided heart. Help me speak truth, keep my commitments, and choose what is right even when no one else is watching. When obedience is costly, remind me that Your approval is more valuable than temporary comfort.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, make my private life consistent with my public faith. May my thoughts, words, decisions, and actions bring honor to Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Lesson 02: Character Is More Important Than Giftedness

Lesson Objective

To understand that while spiritual gifts are valuable for ministry, godly character is essential for sustaining a faithful and effective ministry that honors Christ.

Introduction

God gives spiritual gifts to believers for the work of ministry and the building up of the church. Some are gifted to preach, teach, lead, encourage, serve, or shepherd others. These gifts are important and should be developed for God’s glory.

However, Scripture consistently places greater emphasis on character than on gifting. A person may possess extraordinary abilities and talents, but if their character does not reflect Christ, their ministry can become ineffective and even harmful.

The church is strengthened not merely by gifted leaders but by leaders whose lives demonstrate integrity, humility, holiness, and faithfulness. Gifts may open doors of ministry, but character determines whether a servant remains faithful over time.

Why Character Matters

God is concerned not only with what we do but also with who we are becoming.

Many people are impressed by talent, knowledge, charisma, and ability. Yet God looks deeper.

Throughout Scripture, leaders were evaluated not simply by their accomplishments but by their faithfulness and obedience to God.

Character affects:

  • How we treat people
  • How we handle authority
  • How we respond to correction
  • How we manage success
  • How we endure difficulties
  • How we represent Christ

Strong character provides a foundation upon which ministry can grow and endure.

The Danger of Giftedness Without Character

History has shown many examples of gifted individuals whose ministries were damaged because their character did not match their abilities.

Lesson 01: Ministry Is Service, Not Status

Lesson Objective

To understand that biblical ministry is rooted in humble service rather than personal status, recognition, or authority, following the example of Jesus Christ.

Introduction

In many areas of life, leadership is often associated with power, influence, position, and recognition. People frequently pursue leadership because of the benefits, prestige, or authority that may come with it. However, Jesus presented a completely different model of leadership.

In God’s kingdom, leadership is not about elevating oneself above others but about serving others with humility and love. The greatest example of this is Jesus Himself. Although He is the Son of God and King of kings, He willingly humbled Himself, served people, and ultimately gave His life for their salvation.

Every ministry worker, whether serving publicly or behind the scenes, is called to follow the example of Christ. Ministry is not about building our own reputation but about glorifying God and helping others grow in their relationship with Him.

Jesus: The Perfect Example of Servanthood

Jesus possessed all authority, wisdom, and power, yet He chose the path of humility.

Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus:

  • Served the sick and suffering
  • Taught and cared for the crowds
  • Welcomed the overlooked and rejected
  • Was compassionate toward sinners
  • Washed His disciples’ feet
  • Sacrificed Himself on the cross

His life demonstrates that true greatness is found in serving others.

The world often asks, “How many people serve you?”

Jesus asks, “How many people are you willing to serve?”

One of the greatest temptations in ministry is the desire for recognition, influence, or personal glory.

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your great love and mercy toward us. Thank You for providing salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. As we study Your Word today, help us understand what salvation truly means, why Jesus came, and what He accomplished on the cross. Open our hearts to receive the truth of the gospel and deepen our gratitude for Your amazing grace.

You Are Not Invisible to God

Scripture Reading

Devotional

There are seasons in life when it feels as though no one notices our pain. We may walk through crowded rooms yet feel completely alone. We may carry burdens that no one understands, shed tears in secret, and wonder if anyone truly sees what we are going through.

The feeling of being overlooked can be one of the deepest wounds of the human heart. We long to be known, valued, and remembered. Yet there are moments when it seems as though the world has moved on while we remain stuck in our struggles.

The good news of the gospel is that God sees what others cannot.

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly revealed Himself as the One who notices the forgotten. He saw Hagar when she was abandoned in the wilderness. He saw Joseph when he sat unjustly in prison. He saw David while he was still a shepherd boy in the fields. He saw the widow who gave her last two coins. He saw Bartimaeus crying out from the roadside. He saw Zacchaeus hidden in a tree. And He sees you today.

Nothing about your life escapes His attention. He sees your disappointments, your fears, your unanswered questions, and the battles you fight in silence. He knows every tear that falls and every prayer that rises from a weary heart.

When others overlook you, God does not.

When others forget your name, God remembers it.

When others cannot see your value, God sees the image He created and the purpose He intends to fulfill.

The cross itself is the greatest proof that you are not invisible to God. Long before you ever sought Him, He saw your need and sent His Son to save you. Jesus willingly entered our broken world, carried our sins, and died in our place so that we could be reconciled to God. Such love could never come from a God who is distant or indifferent.

Perhaps today you feel unseen, unheard, or forgotten. Take courage. Your circumstances do not determine your worth. The opinions of others do not define your value. Your worth is established by the God who created you, redeemed you, and calls you His own.

You may feel invisible to people, but you are never invisible to God.

His eyes are upon you. His ears are open to your prayers. His hand is upon your life. And His plans for you are not finished.

The God who sees the sparrow sees you.

The God who counts the stars knows your name.

The God who raised Christ from the dead is able to bring hope into every broken place of your life.

Trust Him today. He has not forgotten you.

  • Have you been carrying a burden that makes you feel unseen or overlooked?
  • How does it encourage you to know that God sees every detail of your life?
  • What area of your life do you need to place into God’s hands today?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am never hidden from Your sight. When I feel forgotten, remind me that You see me. When I feel alone, remind me that You are near. Help me trust Your love, Your timing, and Your purpose for my life. Strengthen my heart and renew my hope. Thank You for knowing me, loving me, and calling me Your own through Jesus Christ. In His name, Amen.

Today’s Truth

You may feel forgotten by people, but you are never forgotten by God. He sees your pain, knows your name, hears your prayers, and is faithfully working in your life even when you cannot see it.

Breaking Free from Comparison

Finding Your Worth in Christ Instead of Measuring Yourself Against Others

Scripture Reading

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10

Devotional

Comparison is one of the most common struggles facing young people today. Social media constantly places the lives, achievements, appearances, and successes of others before our eyes. It is easy to look at someone else’s life and wonder why they seem more talented, more successful, more attractive, or more blessed.

Comparison often begins with a simple glance but quickly grows into discouragement. Instead of appreciating what God is doing in our own lives, we become focused on what He is doing in someone else’s. We begin measuring our worth by achievements, popularity, possessions, grades, followers, relationships, or accomplishments.

Yet God never intended for His children to live that way.

When God created you, He did not make a copy of someone else. He formed you with a unique purpose, unique gifts, and a unique calling. Your value does not come from how you compare with others. Your value comes from the fact that you belong to Him.

The enemy wants comparison to produce insecurity, jealousy, pride, or despair. But God calls us to find our identity in Christ alone. When we understand who we are in Him, we no longer need to compete for significance because our worth has already been settled at the cross.

Consider David. Before he became king, he was simply a shepherd boy. He could have compared himself to his older brothers, who appeared stronger and more qualified. Yet God saw something different. While people looked at outward appearances, God looked at the heart.

The same is true today. God is not comparing you to someone else. He is shaping you according to His purpose for your life.

Your journey may look different from others. Your timing may be different. Your gifts may be different. But different does not mean less valuable.

The moment you stop comparing yourself to others is the moment you become free to embrace who God created you to be.

Remember, the goal of the Christian life is not to become more like another person. The goal is to become more like Christ.

  • Do I often compare myself to others?
  • What areas of comparison cause me the most discouragement?
  • Have I allowed social media or other influences to shape my view of myself?
  • Am I finding my identity in Christ or in the opinions of people?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for creating me with purpose and intention. Forgive me for the times I have measured my worth by comparing myself to others. Help me to see myself through Your eyes and not through the standards of the world.

Teach me to be grateful for the gifts and opportunities You have given me. Free me from insecurity, jealousy, and the desire to gain approval from people. Help me to find my identity, confidence, and value in Christ alone.

Strengthen me to walk faithfully in the calling You have prepared for me. Let my focus be on becoming more like Jesus rather than trying to be like someone else.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God did not create you to compete with others. He created you to know Him, reflect Christ, and fulfill the unique purpose He has for your life.

The Chains We Cannot Break Alone

Scripture Reading:

Devotional

Many people live with chains they cannot see.

Some are bound by addictions. Others are trapped in anger, bitterness, fear, lust, shame, pride, or destructive habits that seem impossible to overcome. They promise themselves they will change tomorrow, only to find themselves returning to the same struggle again and again.

The truth is that some chains are stronger than human determination alone.

Willpower may help for a season, but it cannot transform the heart. Self-improvement may address behavior, but it cannot remove the deeper bondage of sin. We often discover that the harder we try to free ourselves apart from God, the more aware we become of our weakness.

This is why the gospel is such good news.

Jesus did not come merely to offer advice for better living. He came to rescue captives. He came to break chains that human effort could never break. Through His death and resurrection, Christ conquered sin, defeated the power of darkness, and opened the door to genuine freedom.

Many people hide their struggles because they are ashamed. They fear judgment, rejection, or failure. Yet freedom begins when we stop pretending and bring our brokenness into the light of God’s grace.

The Lord already knows every battle you face. He knows every temptation, every failure, every secret burden. Yet He still invites you to come to Him. His grace is greater than your weakness, and His power is stronger than your bondage.

Whatever chain you are carrying today, do not believe the lie that you are beyond help. Do not believe that your struggle defines you or that freedom is impossible.

The same Savior who raised the dead is able to restore the broken, strengthen the weak, and set captives free.

You may not be able to break the chains alone—but you do not have to.

Christ is able.

  • What struggle or burden have you been trying to overcome in your own strength?
  • Have you fully surrendered that area of your life to Christ?
  • What would it look like to depend on God’s grace rather than your own efforts?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I confess that there are battles I cannot win on my own. Too often I rely on my own strength and become discouraged when I fail. Today I bring every burden, temptation, and chain before You.

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to set captives free. Help me to trust in Your power rather than my own ability. Give me courage to walk in the light, wisdom to follow Your truth, and strength to resist what seeks to pull me away from You.

Break every chain that keeps me from fully walking with You. Renew my heart, strengthen my faith, and remind me daily that true freedom is found in Christ alone.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Woman at the Well

When Jesus Meets You Where You Are

“Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.’” — John 4:13–14

Devotional Thought

The woman at the well was not looking for a life-changing encounter. She came to draw water, following the routine of an ordinary day. Yet that day became extraordinary because Jesus met her there.

She carried more than an empty water jar. She carried a broken past, shame, disappointment, and unanswered questions. Her history had left her wounded and searching for something that could satisfy the deepest thirst of her soul.

Jesus knew everything about her. He knew her failures, her regrets, and the choices she wished she could change. Yet He did not turn away from her. He did not condemn her. Instead, He offered her something she had never found in relationships, achievements, or human approval—living water.

Many women today understand what it means to carry hidden burdens. Some carry the weight of rejection. Others struggle with loneliness, fear, guilt, or disappointment. Some feel unseen, forgotten, or weary from trying to hold everything together.

The beauty of this story is that Jesus still meets people at their wells.

He meets the weary woman who feels exhausted by life’s demands. He meets the grieving woman whose heart aches from loss. He meets the anxious woman who worries about tomorrow. He meets the broken woman who wonders if God could still love her.

Jesus does not wait until we have everything figured out. He comes to us in our need and offers His grace.

The woman who arrived at the well burdened by her past left transformed by an encounter with Christ. She became a witness to her community, declaring the One who knew her completely and loved her anyway.

That same Savior still offers living water today. The world promises satisfaction but often leaves us thirsty again. Only Christ can fill the deepest needs of the human heart. Only He can give lasting peace, true forgiveness, and eternal hope.

No matter where you are in your journey, Jesus sees you. He knows your story. He understands your struggles. And He invites you to come and drink deeply from His grace.

The well where shame once lingered became the place where hope began.

  • What burdens have you been carrying that you need to bring to Jesus?
  • Are you seeking satisfaction from things that can never truly satisfy?
  • How has Jesus shown His grace and love in your life?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the God who meets me where I am. Thank You that You know every part of my story and still love me completely. Forgive me for looking to other things to satisfy the needs of my heart. Help me to find my joy, peace, and purpose in You alone.

Fill me with the living water of Your grace. Heal the places where I am broken, strengthen me where I am weak, and remind me that my identity is found in Christ. Help me to share Your love with others just as the woman at the well shared the good news of her encounter with You.

The Man God Is Shaping

Trusting God’s Work in Every Season of Life

Scripture Reading

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

Devotional

Every man desires to become stronger, wiser, and more capable. Yet God’s greatest concern is not merely what a man accomplishes, but who he becomes. The Lord is continually shaping His people into the image of Christ, and that process often happens through circumstances we would never choose for ourselves.

God shaped Moses in the wilderness before using him to lead a nation. He shaped David through years of waiting before placing a crown on his head. He shaped Peter through failures, lessons, and restoration before entrusting him with leadership in the early church.

The same God is shaping you.

Sometimes God shapes a man through responsibility. Sometimes through hardship. Sometimes through seasons of waiting, disappointment, correction, or loss. What feels like a setback may actually be part of God’s preparation. What seems like delay may be His training ground.

The shaping process is not always comfortable. Just as a craftsman carefully removes rough edges from a piece of wood, God often works on areas of pride, impatience, fear, selfishness, and unbelief within us. He is not trying to harm us; He is preparing us.

Many men become discouraged because they compare themselves to others. They see someone else’s success and wonder why their own journey seems slower or harder. But God does not shape every man the same way. Each life is a unique work of His grace. The Lord knows exactly what is needed to prepare you for the calling He has placed upon your life.

The man God uses is first a man God shapes.

Instead of resisting God’s work, trust Him. Submit your plans, your dreams, your fears, and your future into His hands. Allow Him to mold your character, deepen your faith, and strengthen your walk with Him. One day you will look back and see that even the difficult seasons were part of His loving purpose.

God is not finished with you. The story is still being written. The work is still in progress. The hands of the Master Craftsman are still at work.

Trust the process. Trust the Lord. He knows exactly what He is doing.

  • What season of shaping am I currently experiencing?
  • Have I been resisting or embracing God’s work in my life?
  • What character qualities might God be developing in me right now?
  • How can I trust Him more fully in this season?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your faithful work in my life. Even when I do not understand the circumstances around me, help me trust that You are shaping me according to Your purpose. Remove the attitudes, habits, and desires that do not honor You. Build within me the character of Christ.

Teach me to be patient during seasons of growth and faithful during seasons of waiting. Strengthen my heart when challenges arise and remind me that You never waste any part of my journey. Help me become the man You created me to be—a man of faith, integrity, humility, courage, and obedience.

I place my life in Your hands today. Continue Your work in me until Your purpose is fulfilled.

When God Calls Ordinary People

Discovering God’s Extraordinary Purpose Through Everyday Lives

Scripture Reading

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.” — 1 Corinthians 1:27

Devotional

Many people assume that God only calls the talented, the educated, the influential, or the exceptionally gifted. They imagine that God’s work is reserved for spiritual giants and remarkable individuals. Yet when we open the pages of Scripture, we discover a very different story.

God often calls ordinary people.

Moses was a shepherd tending sheep in the wilderness. Gideon saw himself as the least in his family. David was a young shepherd boy overlooked even by his own father. Peter was a fisherman. Matthew was a tax collector. The disciples were not famous scholars or political leaders. They were ordinary men whom God used in extraordinary ways.

The pattern throughout Scripture is clear: God does not choose people because they are already capable. He chooses people and then equips them for His purposes.

When Moses protested that he could not speak well, God promised to be with him. When Gideon doubted his ability, God assured him of His presence. When Jeremiah said he was too young, God reminded him that the call came from God, not from human qualifications.

The same truth remains today.

Many believers hesitate when they sense God leading them. They focus on what they lack rather than on who God is. They see their weaknesses, limitations, fears, and failures. Yet God sees a willing heart that can be shaped for His glory.

God’s call is not based on our perfection but on His purpose.

The Lord delights in using ordinary people because the glory belongs to Him alone. When God works through weak vessels, His power becomes evident. When He accomplishes great things through humble servants, His grace is magnified.

Perhaps you feel ordinary today. Maybe you believe others are more gifted, more qualified, or more prepared than you.

Why Does God Allow Trials?

Devotional Thought

One of the most common questions believers ask is, “Why does God allow trials?” When life becomes difficult, when prayers seem unanswered, when pain lingers longer than expected, it is natural to wonder where God is and what He is doing.

The Bible does not teach that every trial is a punishment from God. In fact, many trials come to those who faithfully follow Him. Job endured suffering. Joseph experienced betrayal. David fled from enemies. Paul faced imprisonment, persecution, and hardship. Yet through every trial, God was at work accomplishing a greater purpose.

Trials reveal what is in our hearts. When everything is comfortable, faith is rarely tested. But when challenges arise, we discover whether our trust rests in our circumstances or in God Himself. Trials expose weaknesses, deepen dependence on the Lord, and teach us to rely upon His strength rather than our own.

God also uses trials to shape our character. Just as gold is refined by fire, believers are refined through difficulties. The process is not pleasant, but it is purposeful. Through trials, God develops perseverance, maturity, humility, patience, and unwavering faith.

Most importantly, trials remind us that this world is not our final home. Hardships cause us to look beyond temporary circumstances and fix our eyes on Christ. They teach us to value eternal things more than earthly comforts.

The Lord never promises that His children will avoid every storm. Instead, He promises His presence in the midst of the storm. The same God who allows the trial walks with us through it. His grace sustains us, His wisdom guides us, and His love never abandons us.

If you are facing a difficult season today, remember that God has not forgotten you. What seems confusing now may one day reveal His wisdom and faithfulness. Trust that He is working even when you cannot see it.

Your trial has a purpose. Your pain is not wasted. God is still writing your story.

Heavenly Father,

Life is filled with change.

Relationships change. Careers change. Health changes. Circumstances change. Seasons come and go, often without warning. One day everything seems stable, and the next day you find yourself standing in unfamiliar territory.

Change can be unsettling because it reminds us how little control we truly have. We naturally desire certainty, predictability, and security. Yet many of life’s greatest challenges come when what was familiar is suddenly altered.

Perhaps you are walking through a season of transition right now. Maybe a door has closed. Maybe a new responsibility has been placed before you. Maybe a loss, disappointment, or unexpected change has left you wondering what comes next.

In moments like these, it is easy to focus on what has changed. But Scripture continually points us to the One who never changes.

While circumstances shift, God’s character remains constant.

His love has not changed.

His promises have not changed.

His power has not changed.

His faithfulness has not changed.

The same God who guided Abraham into an unknown land, sustained Joseph through years of uncertainty, protected Daniel in exile, and strengthened Paul through trials is the same God who walks with you today.

Holding on during seasons of change does not mean pretending everything is easy. It means anchoring your heart in God’s unchanging nature even when everything around you feels uncertain.

When Peter stepped out of the boat, the wind and waves did not disappear. What mattered was where he fixed his eyes. In the same way, peace is not found in controlling every circumstance but in trusting the One who rules over every circumstance.

God often uses seasons of change to deepen our faith, refine our character, and draw us closer to Himself. What feels like an interruption may actually be an invitation to trust Him more fully.

The season may change, but your Savior remains the same.

Hold on to Him.

He is faithful.

Heavenly Father,

God’s Design for Husband and Wife

Marriage was not created by human culture, tradition, or government. It was established by God from the very beginning. Before there were nations, churches, or institutions, God created the family and designed marriage as a sacred covenant between a husband and a wife.

When God created Adam, He declared that it was not good for man to be alone. He then created Eve as a suitable helper and companion. Together they reflected God’s wisdom, purpose, and design. 

Marriage was never intended to be a relationship of competition, control, or self-interest. It was designed to be a partnership of love, unity, service, and mutual devotion to God.

The Bible teaches that a husband is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church. This is a sacrificial love—a love that serves, protects, nurtures, and seeks the spiritual well-being of his wife. Christ did not love the church only when it was easy; He gave Himself for her. In the same way, a husband is called to lead through humility, grace, and godly example.

A wife is called to honor, support, and respect her husband as they walk together in God’s purpose. This does not diminish her value or importance. In God’s eyes, husband and wife are equally precious, equally loved, and equally heirs of His grace. Their roles are different, but their worth is the same.

God’s design for marriage is not centered on personal happiness alone. It is centered on His glory. As husband and wife grow in Christ, they become stronger together. Their marriage becomes a testimony of God’s faithfulness, forgiveness, mercy, and love.

Every marriage will face challenges. There will be seasons of misunderstanding, disappointment, and difficulty. Yet God’s design remains unchanged. When both husband and wife submit themselves to Christ, seek His wisdom, and walk in obedience to His Word, He strengthens the bond that holds them together.

A healthy marriage is not built on perfect people. It is built on a perfect Savior. The closer each spouse grows to Christ, the closer they will grow to one another.

The Cross That Changed Everything

Devotional

Few symbols in history are as recognized as the cross. It appears on church buildings, jewelry, artwork, and books. Yet the cross is far more than a symbol. It is the place where God’s justice and God’s love met in perfect harmony.

Before the cross, humanity stood guilty before a holy God. Sin had separated us from the One who created us. No amount of good works, religious effort, or personal sacrifice could remove that barrier. We needed a Savior.

Jesus Christ came into the world for that very purpose. He lived the perfect life we could never live and willingly took upon Himself the punishment our sins deserved. On the cross, He bore our guilt, our shame, and our judgment. What we could not accomplish for ourselves, He accomplished for us.

The cross changed everything because it opened the way for forgiveness. Through Christ’s sacrifice, sinners can be reconciled to God. The condemned can receive mercy. The lost can find hope. The spiritually dead can receive new life.

The cross also reveals the depth of God’s love. Jesus did not die for us because we deserved it. He died because He loved us. His sacrifice was not a response to our goodness but an expression of His grace.

When Jesus declared, “It is finished,” the work of redemption was complete. The debt of sin was paid. The way to God was opened. Salvation became available to all who place their faith in Him.

Today, the cross still changes lives. It transforms hearts, restores broken people, and gives eternal hope to everyone who trusts in Christ. The message of the cross is not merely a historical event; it is the power of God for salvation.

Many believers live as though they are powerless against the struggles, temptations, fears, and spiritual battles they face. Yet Scripture teaches that those who belong to Christ have been given a new position, a new identity, and a new authority through their union with Him.

The authority of the believer does not come from personal strength, human ability, or spiritual achievement. It comes from Christ alone. Jesus defeated sin through His sacrifice, conquered death through His resurrection, and triumphed over every power of darkness through His finished work on the cross.

Because we are united with Christ by faith, we share in the benefits of His victory. We do not fight for victory; we fight from victory. We do not stand in our own name; we stand in the name of Jesus. We do not rely on our own wisdom; we rely on the truth of God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The authority of the believer is not permission to command God or exalt oneself. Rather, it is the confidence to stand firmly upon God’s promises, resist the enemy, reject deception, overcome temptation, and faithfully obey Christ.

When fear comes, we stand upon God’s truth.

When temptation comes, we stand upon God’s strength.

When discouragement comes, we stand upon God’s promises.

When spiritual opposition comes, we stand upon Christ’s victory.

The believer’s authority is exercised through faith, obedience, prayer, and dependence upon the Lord. Every day we are called to walk in the confidence that Jesus is Lord, and that His power is sufficient for every challenge we face.

No matter what battle stands before you today, remember that your authority is not found in yourself but in the Savior who has already overcome the world.

In a world that often celebrates self-promotion, personal achievement, and recognition, humility can seem like a forgotten virtue. Yet throughout Scripture, humility is presented not as weakness, but as a mark of spiritual strength. It is the posture of a heart that recognizes its complete dependence upon God.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself rightly before God. It is understanding that every good gift, every ability, every opportunity, and every blessing comes from His hand. The humble person does not seek to elevate himself above others, nor does he constantly seek recognition for his accomplishments. Instead, he seeks to honor God in all things.

Jesus Christ is the greatest example of humility. Though He is the Son of God, He came as a servant. He washed the feet of His disciples. He associated with the broken, the poor, and the overlooked. Ultimately, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death on a cross. His life demonstrates that true greatness is found in surrender to the Father’s will.

Humility also creates room for God to work in our lives. Pride convinces us that we have everything under control, while humility acknowledges our need for God’s wisdom, strength, and grace. When we humble ourselves before Him, we become teachable, moldable, and ready to receive His direction.

A humble heart is quick to listen, slow to boast, willing to serve, and eager to give God the glory. It does not demand its own way but seeks God’s purposes above personal ambition. Such a heart reflects the beauty of Christ.

The promise of Scripture is clear: God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. The path of humility may not always attract attention from the world, but it attracts the favor of God. In His time, He lifts up those who willingly bow before Him.

Today, ask the Lord to cultivate humility within your heart. Surrender your plans, your desires for recognition, and your need to control every outcome. Trust Him with your life and allow His grace to shape you into the likeness of Christ.

Life often reminds us of our weaknesses. We face challenges we cannot control, burdens we cannot carry alone, and battles that test our faith. At times, we may feel exhausted, discouraged, or uncertain about the future. Yet God’s call is not to find strength within ourselves, but to find strength in Him.

When Paul wrote, “Be strong in the Lord,” he was not commanding believers to become stronger through human effort. He was directing them to the source of true strength. The Christian life was never meant to be lived apart from God’s power. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit unless it remains connected to the vine, we cannot live a fruitful and victorious life apart from Christ.

Growing strong in the Lord begins with dependence. It is learning to trust God when circumstances seem uncertain. It is turning to His Word when we need wisdom. It is seeking Him in prayer when our hearts are troubled. It is choosing obedience even when the path is difficult. Spiritual strength is developed as we walk daily with Christ and learn to rely on His grace.

God often uses trials to deepen our faith. Difficult seasons reveal where we place our trust and teach us that His strength is sufficient when ours is not. What appears to be a setback may become an opportunity for spiritual growth. Through every challenge, God is shaping us, refining us, and drawing us closer to Himself.

A life that honors Christ is not built on talent, ability, or personal determination. It is built on a growing relationship with Jesus. The strongest believers are not those who think they need God the least, but those who recognize they need Him the most.

Just as physical food nourishes the body, God’s Word nourishes the soul.

A healthy Christian life depends upon regularly reading, understanding, and obeying Scripture.
