A Personal Testimony by Ed Grefiel
My name is Ed Grefiel, a servant of the Lord. The following is my personal testimony about a dream I experienced in April 2014—a dream that profoundly affected the direction of my life, ministry, writing, and teaching.
I share this experience not to add to Scripture or establish a new doctrine, but to testify to what I believe was a personal call from the Lord that directed my heart back to the urgency, truth, and proclamation of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The Dream
In the early morning hours of April 2014, around 4:00 a.m., I experienced a dream that deeply marked my life, ministry, and purpose. I believe the Lord visited me and commanded me through this experience—not to add to Scripture or establish new doctrine, but to direct my heart back to the urgency, truth, and proclamation of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In the dream, I was seated in what appeared to be a kingly chair, one with arms on both sides where my arms rested. Before me stood a wide mirror, and I could clearly see my own reflection.
As I looked, a white helmet suddenly appeared before me. It resembled a construction safety helmet, yet it was unlike any ordinary helmet. It was smooth and perfectly rounded, with no straps, no markings, and no extra features. It was simple, pure, and perfectly fitted for the head.
Across the front of the helmet was one word written in capital letters:
“SALVATION.”
The helmet was then placed upon my head. As it settled, it began adjusting itself tightly around me, almost squeezing inward.
Then something extraordinary happened.
The solid white helmet began to change like water, becoming transparent and invisible as it slowly sank into my skull. I tried to pull it back out while I could still feel and grasp the edge of it, but it continued sinking until it completely disappeared into my head.
I remember touching and knocking on my head with my fingers, trying to understand what had happened. It felt as though something strong and immovable had become part of me—like hardened steel beneath the surface, as if nothing could harm my head anymore.
I continued watching this unfold through the mirror.
Then a hand reached from behind me and tapped my left shoulder.
A voice simply said:
“Go.”
It was only at that moment that I realized the One standing behind me, clothed in white, was the Lord Himself—the One who had placed the helmet upon my head.
My attention had been so fixed on the helmet and what was happening to me that I had not recognized His presence until He touched my shoulder and spoke.
At that moment, I awoke.
My wife noticed that I was sitting upright on the bed very early in the morning. I was praying and immediately writing down everything I had seen and experienced in the dream. I told her what had happened, prayed again, and returned to sleep.
What Followed
After this dream, I devoted myself more deeply to studying, reading, meditation, prayer, writing, and teaching on the subject of salvation.
Beginning in 2014, I developed a series of twelve Bible study lessons centered on salvation. I later taught these lessons in 2016 and continued studying, writing, refining, and expanding them over the years. What began as Bible study lessons gradually developed into a larger body of work centered on the message of redemption through Jesus Christ.
From this conviction and years of study emerged the twelve-book salvation series, Steps of Faith: A Journey to Salvation for All.
Since that time, I have carried a deep conviction concerning the message of salvation, the authority of God’s Word, and the calling to proclaim Christ clearly.
I do not consider this dream equal to Scripture, nor do I consider it a replacement for the written Word of God. Rather, I believe the Lord used it as a personal call to devote myself more fully to teaching, preaching, writing, and proclaiming the message of salvation found in Jesus Christ alone.
The dream began with one word:
SALVATION.
And it ended with one command:
“Go.”
That call continues to shape the work I pursue today.
