The Church Carries Out Christ’s Mission
Jesus gave His church a mission.
Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”
The church exists to:
- Proclaim the gospel
- Make disciples
- Teach God’s Word
- Baptize believers
- Glorify God
Together, believers participate in God’s work throughout the world.
Common Misunderstandings About the Church
“I Can Follow Jesus Without Other Christians”
While a person can have a personal relationship with Christ, God intends believers to grow within a church family.
“The Church Is Just a Building”
The church is people, not a location.
The building is simply a meeting place.
“Church Attendance Saves Me”
Church attendance does not save anyone.
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
However, saved people are called to fellowship and worship with other believers.
