Session 03 — Born Again

The Miracle of New Life in Christ

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Thank You that You do not simply forgive us, but You also give us new life. As we study Your Word today, help us understand what it means to be born again. Open our hearts to the work of the Holy Spirit and teach us how You transform those who trust in Christ.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

Amen.

Primary Text

John 3:1-8

1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Session 05 — Assurance of Salvation

Knowing You Belong to Christ

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Thank You that Your promises are sure and Your Word is trustworthy. As we study today, help us understand the assurance that believers can have in Christ. Strengthen our faith, remove our doubts, and help us rest confidently in the finished work of Jesus. May our confidence be rooted in Your promises and not in our own efforts.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

Amen.

Primary Text

1 John 5:11-13

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life…”

My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…”

Romans 8:38-39

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,

nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
