Why Jesus Came
Many people know that Jesus came into the world, but the Bible clearly explains why He came.
Jesus did not come merely to teach morality or provide an example.
He came to save sinners.
Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Humanity was lost because of sin.
Jesus came to rescue those who could not save themselves.
God’s Love Revealed
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
This verse reveals several important truths:
- God loves the world.
- God gave His Son.
- Salvation is available to whoever believes.
- Eternal life is found in Christ.
Salvation begins with God’s love.
Before we ever sought God, God reached out to us.
The Meaning of the Cross
The cross stands at the center of the Christian faith.
It is where God’s justice and mercy meet.
Jesus willingly took upon Himself the punishment that sinners deserved.
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Notice that Christ did not die for righteous people.
He died for sinners.
The cross demonstrates:
- God’s holiness
- God’s justice
- God’s mercy
- God’s love
Jesus paid a debt He did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay.
