The Holy Spirit and the New Birth
In Session 3, we learned that believers must be born again.
The Holy Spirit is the One who accomplishes this work.
Titus 3:5
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual life to those who place their faith in Christ.
The Holy Spirit Lives in Every Believer
One of the most remarkable truths in the New Testament is that the Holy Spirit permanently indwells believers.
Romans 8:9
“Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”
Every true believer has the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not reserved for a special group of Christians.
He dwells in all who belong to Christ.
The Holy Spirit as Helper and Comforter
Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as our Helper.
John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things…”
The Holy Spirit helps believers by:
- Teaching truth
- Bringing Scripture to remembrance
- Providing wisdom
- Giving comfort during trials
- Strengthening faith
Believers never walk alone.
God’s Spirit is always present with them.
The Holy Spirit Guides Believers
The Holy Spirit leads God’s people into truth.
