Holy Spirit
The Greek term is Pneuma Hagion (Πνεῦμα Ἅγιον).
Meaning:
- Holy Spirit
- Holy Breath
- Holy Wind
The word pneuma can mean spirit, breath, or wind.
Just as the wind is invisible yet powerful, the Holy Spirit works powerfully in the lives of believers.
The Holy Spirit’s Role in Salvation
The Holy Spirit is actively involved in bringing people to Christ.
John 16:8
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”
Before a person comes to Christ, the Holy Spirit:
- Convicts of sin
- Reveals the need for salvation
- Draws attention to Christ
- Opens hearts to the gospel
No one comes to saving faith apart from God’s work in their heart.
