Session 13 — Serving God

Why Do We Serve God?

We do not serve God to earn salvation.

Salvation is a gift received by grace through faith.

Instead, we serve because:

  • We love God.
  • We are grateful for His grace.
  • We desire to glorify Him.
  • We want to help others.
  • We want to fulfill His purposes.

Service is the natural response of a heart transformed by Christ.

Jesus Is Our Example

Jesus demonstrated what true service looks like.

Mark 10:45

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Jesus, the Lord of all, willingly served others.

If Christ served, His followers should also serve.

Christian service is rooted in humility, love, and sacrifice.

Word Study

Steward

The Greek word is oikonomos (οἰκονόμος).

Meaning:

  • Manager
  • Steward
  • One entrusted with responsibility

Believers are stewards of everything God has given them.

We do not own our gifts, talents, time, or resources.

God entrusts them to us for His purposes.
