What Is the Bible?
The Bible is God’s written revelation to humanity.
It contains sixty-six books written by many human authors over approximately fifteen hundred years.
Yet despite its many authors, the Bible tells one unified story:
God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.
The Bible is divided into two main sections:
Old Testament
- Thirty-nine books
- Reveals God’s creation, covenant, law, promises, and preparation for the coming Messiah
New Testament
- Twenty-seven books
- Reveals the life, death, resurrection, and teachings of Jesus Christ and the growth of the early church
Together they reveal God’s redemptive plan from Genesis to Revelation.

Inspiration
The Greek word used in 2 Timothy 3:16 is theopneustos(θεόπνευστος).
Meaning:
- God-breathed
- Breathed out by God
- Divinely inspired
The Bible is not merely human wisdom.
It is God’s Word given through human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Why Do We Trust the Bible?
Because its ultimate source is God Himself.
2 Peter 1:20-21
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
God used human writers, but He superintended the process so that His truth was accurately communicated.
The Bible is trustworthy because God is trustworthy.
