3. Rebellion
Rebellion is willful resistance against God’s authority.
It is not merely doing wrong but refusing God’s rightful rule over our lives.
Example:
Choosing our own way instead of God’s way.
Supporting Scripture
1 John 3:4
“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.”
Sin is not merely a mistake.
It is opposition to God’s holy standard.
How Sin Separates Us from God
God is holy, righteous, and perfect.
Sin creates a barrier between sinful humanity and a holy God.
Isaiah 59:2
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.”
This verse does not mean God stops caring about people.
It means sin creates separation in our relationship with Him.
Humanity cannot bridge this gap through good works, religion, morality, or personal effort.
Only God can provide the solution.
The Consequence of Sin
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
A wage is something earned.
Sin earns death.
The Bible speaks of death in several ways:
- Physical death
- Spiritual separation from God
- Eternal judgment apart from Christ
Sin always carries consequences because God is perfectly just.
