You cannot control another person’s choices.
You cannot force humility.
You cannot manufacture change.
Reconciliation requires the participation of more than one person.
It involves:
- honesty,
- repentance,
- humility,
- accountability,
- forgiveness,
- patience,
- and a mutual desire for peace.
When these elements are present,
reconciliation can become a powerful testimony of God’s redeeming grace.
Old wounds can become places of healing.
Relationships can grow deeper than before.
What seemed impossible can reveal the beauty of restoration.
Yet even then, reconciliation often takes time.
Trust may need to be rebuilt slowly.
Conversations may require gentleness.
Healing may unfold through many small acts of faithfulness.
Do not rush the process.
At the same time, do not confuse reconciliation with forgiveness.
Forgiveness is something you can choose before God.
