Key Scripture
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”
— Colossians 3:15 (ESV)
Devotional Reflection
Bitterness rarely announces its return.
It usually comes quietly.
A memory resurfaces.
Someone mentions a familiar name.
You hear news about the person who hurt you.
An old wound is unexpectedly touched.
And suddenly, you find yourself revisiting thoughts you believed you had already surrendered.
Perhaps you replay the offense again.
You rehearse what you wish you had said.
You imagine different outcomes.
You revisit old arguments.
Without realizing it, bitterness begins knocking at the door of your heart once more.
This is why freedom requires vigilance.
Forgiveness is not only a decision we make in moments of deep surrender.
It also becomes a daily posture of choosing what will govern our hearts.
