Bring Your Hurt to God

Peter writes:

“Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”

The word casting means to throw upon, to place upon another, to transfer a burden from your shoulders to someone else’s care.

It is the picture of someone setting down what has become too heavy to carry.

Notice what Peter does not say.

He does not say:

“Carry your burdens until you are stronger.”

He does not say:

“Figure everything out first.”

He does not say:

“Only bring the small concerns to God.”

Instead, he says:

Cast all your anxieties on Him.

All of them.

The obvious ones.

The hidden ones.

The fears you understand.

The emotions you cannot explain.

The questions that keep you awake at night.

The wounds that still ache.

The anger that embarrasses you.

The tears you wish no one had seen.

Bring them all.
