Session 14 — Sharing Your Faith

Word Study

Witness

The Greek word is martys (μάρτυς).

Meaning:

  • Witness
  • Testifier
  • One who gives evidence

A witness simply tells what they know and have experienced.

Believers testify about who Jesus is and what He has done in their lives.

Why Should We Share Our Faith?

Because Jesus commands it.

Matthew 28:19-20

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”

Sharing the gospel is part of the mission Christ gave His followers.

We share our faith because:

  • Jesus commanded it.
  • People need salvation.
  • God loves the world.
  • The gospel is the power of God for salvation.

The Message We Share

The message is not our opinions.

The message is the gospel.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

The gospel includes four essential truths:

God Created Us

God created humanity to know Him and glorify Him.

Humanity Has Sinned

All people have sinned and are separated from God.

Romans 3:23

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
