The Greek word for faith is pistis (πίστις).
Meaning:
- Trust
- Confidence
- Reliance
- Conviction
Biblical faith is not merely intellectual agreement.
It is personal trust in Jesus Christ.
Faith Is Trusting Christ Alone
Saving faith is trusting:
- Who Jesus is
- What Jesus accomplished on the cross
- His resurrection from the dead
- His promise to save all who come to Him
Faith is not trusting:
- Good works
- Religious ceremonies
- Personal morality
- Church membership
- Human effort
Faith rests entirely upon Christ.
What Is Repentance?
Repentance is often misunderstood.
Some think repentance simply means feeling sorry for sin.
While godly sorrow may lead to repentance, repentance itself is deeper.
Repentance is a change of mind and heart that results in turning toward God.
