Forgiving Again and Again

Heart Reflection

  • Have you become discouraged because painful emotions resurfaced after choosing forgiveness?
  • What offense do you find yourself repeatedly bringing back to God?
  • How might repeated surrender be an expression of faith rather than failure?
  • What would it look like to receive God’s patience toward yourself?

Prayer

Father, there are moments when I feel discouraged because I thought I had already forgiven, only to discover that old wounds still affect me.

Thank You for Your patience with me.

Thank You that You do not grow weary of my returning to You.

Help me not to interpret repeated surrender as failure but as another opportunity to trust You.

Give me grace to forgive again when necessary.

Continue Your healing work within my heart and teach me to rest in Your faithful love.

Your mercies are new every morning.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Step Toward Freedom

Think of a hurt that keeps resurfacing.

Write this prayer in your journal:

“Lord, I surrender this to You once again. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for today’s step of obedience.”

Then remind yourself:

I am not starting over. I am continuing the journey.

Truth to Remember

Repeated surrender is not failure.

Sometimes forgiveness is choosing, again and again,

to place the same wound into God’s faithful hands.
