4. Understand Who You Are Approaching

We are approaching:

  • The Creator of heaven and earth.
  • The Holy One.
  • Our Heavenly Father.
  • The God who loves us.
  • The King who reigns over all things.

Prayer should contain both reverence and intimacy.

Scripture

Matthew 6:9
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”

5. Approach God With the Right Attitude

Humility

Recognize your dependence upon God.

James 4:10

Faith

Believe that God hears and responds according to His will.

Hebrews 11:6

Reverence

Never forget the holiness of God.

Psalm 89:7

Gratitude

Thank God before, during, and after prayer.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Trust

Trust God even when answers are delayed.

Proverbs 3:5–6
