Lesson 01: Ministry Is Service, Not Status

This can appear in many forms:

  • Seeking titles more than responsibility
  • Desiring recognition more than faithfulness
  • Comparing ministries with others
  • Becoming jealous of another person’s success
  • Serving to gain praise from people

When ministry becomes centered on self, the focus shifts away from Christ and toward personal ambition.

God calls His servants to remain humble and remember that every gift, opportunity, and position comes from Him.

Characteristics of a Servant of Christ

A faithful servant of Christ seeks to reflect the heart of Jesus.

Serve with Humility

Humility recognizes that every ability, opportunity, and success comes from God.

A humble servant:

  • Gives God the glory
  • Remains teachable
  • Welcomes correction
  • Values others above self

Seek God’s Glory Rather Than Personal Recognition

The purpose of ministry is not to make our name known but to make Christ known.

Faithful servants ask:

  • Is God being honored?
  • Are people being drawn closer to Christ?
  • Am I serving for God’s approval rather than man’s applause?

Care for People Sincerely

People are not projects, statistics, or stepping stones to success.

Jesus cared deeply for individuals. Ministry should be motivated by genuine love and compassion for people.

Value Faithfulness Above Popularity

Popularity is temporary, but faithfulness has eternal value.

God does not call every servant to be famous. He calls every servant to be faithful.

The question is not, “How many people know me?”

The question is, “Am I faithfully serving the One who called me?”
