Prayer for Someone Suffering from Addiction

Heavenly Father,

I lift up before You this precious person who is struggling with addiction. Lord, You know their pain, their battles, their disappointments, and the burden they carry each day. You see the struggles that others may not understand, and You know the cry of their heart even when they cannot find the words to pray.

Father, in Your mercy, reach down and touch their life today. Let them know that they are not forgotten, abandoned, or beyond Your saving grace. Remind them that Your love is greater than their failures, stronger than their weaknesses, and deeper than their darkest moments.

Lord Jesus, You came to set captives free. I ask that You break every chain of addiction that has taken hold of their mind, body, emotions, and spirit. Whether the bondage is to alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, unhealthy habits, destructive behaviors, or any other controlling influence, I pray that Your delivering power would begin a mighty work of freedom in their life.

Father, strengthen them in moments of temptation. When the urge is strong, be their strength. When they feel overwhelmed, be their peace. When they feel hopeless, be their hope. When they stumble, help them rise again through Your grace and mercy.

Holy Spirit, fill every empty place within them with Your presence. Replace destructive desires with a hunger for righteousness. Replace fear with faith. Replace shame with forgiveness. Replace despair with confidence in Your promises. Renew their mind and transform their heart according to Your Word.

Lord, remove every lie of the enemy that tells them they can never change. Let them hear Your truth declaring that freedom is possible through Jesus Christ. Give them courage to seek help, wisdom to make healthy choices, and perseverance to continue moving forward one day at a time.

Surround them with godly friends, faithful family members, wise counselors, and caring believers who will encourage them, support them, and walk beside them through the journey of recovery. Protect them from influences that pull them back into bondage and lead them toward people who will help them grow stronger in faith.

Father, heal the wounds that may have contributed to this struggle. Heal brokenness, rejection, loneliness, grief, trauma, disappointment, and every hidden hurt that has driven them to seek comfort apart from You. Let Your healing love reach the deepest places of their heart.

I pray that they would discover their true identity in Christ—not as an addict, not as a failure, not as someone defined by their past—but as a person created in Your image, loved by You, and worthy of redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Lord, let freedom come. Let healing come. Let restoration come. Let hope rise again. May each day bring new victories, renewed strength, and greater dependence upon You.

Thank You, Father, that no chain is stronger than Your power, no darkness is deeper than Your light, and no life is beyond Your ability to restore.

We trust You to complete the good work You have begun.

In the mighty, compassionate, and victorious name of Jesus Christ, we pray.

Amen.
